Group Animation (YR13 2023)

The brief: to create a 30 second - 1 minute animated lyric video based off a song of choice. 

For this project we were split into groups of three by our teachers. My group deciding on creating a 2D animation on the song: Don't Wanna Fall in Love - Kyle. I was personally excited because this was the first group project we would be doing and the song was one of my favourites so I happy to be working with it (though it makes my head hurt now, haha.) We did our research and planning using Figma and Google Slides. As for production, the assigned roles were:

Ella (me): Animation for half the song

K: Animation for half the song

G: Post production (type animation and editing the clips together)

However, our group was way too ambitious, completely ignoring and forgetting the advised time limits. We were all way too excited, deciding to try and animate the whole song (3:52 minutes). The roles we had initially assigned ended up unbalanced too. G decided she wanted to animate a dance scene and end credits as well as editing. And, I ended up doing the first two minutes of animation, not realising until I had begun editing my clips together to take some of the workload off of G. Meanwhile K did a total of 20 seconds of the work. But, honestly I can't be mad, as the suffering was self inflicted. Of course, we didn't manage to finish the entire song. It was way too much work for how little time we had to do it. So, in the end we were forced to cut it down, for the sake of our own sanities and not exceeding the extended time given to us. The multiple all nighters were not fun. The project definitely left me with a lesson well learned!
